Montauk’s Naturally Good Foods and Cafe

Naturally Good for Dinner

Montauk’s Naturally Good Foods and Cafe, which has been serving healthy and organic foods since 1985, is now open for dinner every Friday night from 5 to 8.

Starters include crispy tofu with broccoli, scallions, hoisin, and lime; baby kale and strawberry salad with fresh mozzarella, cucumbers, radish, and white balsamic and basil vinaigrette; chicken lettuce wraps with mango, cashews, bean sprouts, and teriyaki-chili oil, and Peking duck tacos with hoisin barbecue sauce, avocado, and salsa.

Among the entrees are fusilli alla vodka with bacon, peas, and fennel; Thai drunken noodles with wide rice noodles, shrimp or tofu, Thai basil, red chili, and scallions; teriyaki salmon with edamame, avocado, pickled jalapenos, radishes, scallions, cilantro, and brown rice; a portobello burger with roasted red pepper, fresh mozzarella, pesto, greens, pickled red onion, and roasted rosemary potatoes; a grass-fed smash burger with French fries, and a half rack of St. Louis barbecued Berkshire pork ribs with roasted rosemary potatoes.

Reservations are not taken; takeout is an option.

Goodbye, Highway

East Hampton’s Highway restaurant and bar will close following dinner service on Sept. 7, after more than 10 years at 290 Montauk Highway. Until then it will serve dinner Wednesday through Monday, starting at 5.

The property has been for sale for several years and no lease extension was offered, according to Highway’s public relations firm, WordHampton. “The team had hoped to continue welcoming guests at the location for years to come and has made significant investments in the care and improvement of the property throughout its tenancy,” according to the WordHampton announcement.

“While this chapter at 290 Montauk Highway is coming to a close, it is not the end for Highway Restaurant. Stay tuned for what comes next,” the management team said in the release.
