A Springs man is facing assault charges after allegedly pushing a woman and slamming her hand repeatedly in a door on Saturday at the Whalebone Apartments. Two children witnessed the incident and were also victims of the man, who, according to police, pushed an 8-year-old down stairs and threw a phone charger at the face of a 5-year-old. He was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child along with third-degree assault, all misdemeanors.
Three women called police on the night of Sept. 2 after leaving their Uber on Stephen Hand’s Path and calling another. They told police that their driver was speeding and that they could not understand him when he spoke to them, which made them uncomfortable. The driver, who is based in Flushing, told officers he was “simply trying to do his job.” They reported that he “appeared to be fine.”
Em’s Gem, a Grady-White boat moored in Hand’s Creek, apparently broke free of her mooring on the afternoon of Sept. 1 and was found washed up on the launching ramp. The owner told police he would wait until high tide to remove the vessel.
An employee at Ketchy Beach nightclub on Three Mile Harbor Road was cited at 1:30 a.m. Monday for violating noise regulations.
East Hampton Village
On Friday, a woman who is believed to have been giving surfing lessons at Georgica Beach told police she was “babysitting” for unrelated children in the water there. The woman, who reportedly works for Legend Surf Company, was cited for holding an event without a permit. The day before, also at Georgica, police charged a local woman with giving surfing lessons without a gathering permit; it was not clear whether it was the same woman.
Earlier that morning, a man who police said works for the same company was involved in a verbal altercation after a Colorado man told him that “the police are going to be waiting for you today” and called him a “low-life kook.” The employee told officers that “caused him to become aggressive” and start yelling offensive names at the man.
Items totaling over $500 were stolen from the Montauk Highway CVS last Thursday. The store manager said she saw a local woman place the items into a canvas shopping bag and leave the store without paying for them. Police found the woman still in the parking lot, where she handed over the stolen goods. The management said they would not press charges but did not want her to come back.
A passer-by asked police to check on a dog locked in a Bentley parked on Main Street Friday. The car was gone before police arrived.
Bushes and a state-owned sign were damaged in front of Apple Bank Saturday morning after a car driven by a Sag Harbor man blew a tire and crashed into them. The driver was subsequently charged with aggravated unlicensed driving, a misdemeanor, after police discovered that his license had been revoked.
A Brooklyn woman who complained on Sept. 1 of being charged multiple times for a single transaction at the Little East on Newtown Lane was ultimately banned from the children’s clothing shop after its owner was able to prove she’d been charged just once.
On Georgica Beach on Saturday morning, multiple chairs and tiki torches set up around a smoldering, unattended fire between the first and second jetties caused some alarm. When police patrolling the area located the beachfront property owner, who said he’d been unaware of beach fire regulations.
The day before, also near the second jetty at Georgica, police spotted a Connecticut man driving a Rivian down the beach early in the morning. He was cited for lacking a beach-driving permit.
A man who fell off his motorcycle near Main Street on Sept. 1 received some help getting back on from a nearby police officer. The man said he was unhurt, and the motorcycle was not damaged.
Montauk
Two UpIsland men were charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault on Aug. 20 after an early-morning fight at Bounce Beach. The men, from Selden and Holtsville, are said to have punched an unnamed victim in the face, causing tooth fractures and facial lacerations.
A Sept. 1 dispute at John’s Drive-In ended without charges for either of the men involved. Police were called after reports of a man “yelling loudly using unknown words at patrons” was confronted by another man, one of whom eventually “raised his hands” at the other, who declined to press charges.
A Montauk resident was charged with obstructing governmental administration on Aug. 31 after being pulled over by police in his driveway. The man, who reportedly refused to identify himself, was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed driving, Both charges are misdemeanors; police released him on his own recognizance.
On Sept. 2, Dime Bank employees reported receiving threatening phone calls, and said they might know the caller. The branch manager told police a former customer would often come into the bank intoxicated and verbally abuse the staff. Eventually his accounts were closed, and he was banned from the location. Police contacted the man, who maintained that the bank has been soliciting his business by mail and he is trying to get them to stop.
Early Sunday morning, a Florida woman reported that a stranger, possibly “intoxicated and confused,” was trying to enter her unit at Rough Riders Landing. Police apparently picked him up, because he was taken away by ambulance with a bloody nose, and later that morning the woman found blood spattered on her screen door.
Employees of the Montauk Beach House called police on Aug. 28 after a man they said they did not want on the premises returned after being kicked out for harassing a staff member. Police served the man with a notice of trespass.
Sometime between Aug. 30 and last Thursday, someone threw eggs at the sliding door of a house on South Embassy Street while the homeowner was away. A neighbor cleaned up the mess.
Police charged employees of Barlume Beach and the Surf Lodge with unlicensed “warehousing of liquor” on Aug. 27, after finding that both establishments have been storing liquor off-premises, which is a violation of state law. On Friday night, Barlume Beach was cited for violating noise restrictions, and on Saturday night, the Surf Lodge was similarly cited after a caller lodged a noise complaint.
A highly intoxicated local woman was asked to leave Mary Lou’s restaurant on West Lake Drive early Monday morning. The woman had called police to say that bouncers were yelling at her; the bouncers said they’d asked her to leave but would not. She eventually left in an Uber.
Springs
A man was charged on Friday night with boating while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after police boarded his 1971 Mako boat near Harbor Marina on Friday night and found him “unsteady on his feet” with slurred speech. He was held overnight and released on his own recognizance with a court appearance ticket in the morning.
A Barry Lane resident told police on Aug. 31 that she had received a nearly $2,000 check in the mail with directions to deposit it. She suspects fraud.
A Hollyoak Drive man was not burning garbage last Thursday as reported to police, but was burning wood and tree brush.

A green Huffy bicycle stolen from the Beach Lane parking lot on Aug. 29 reappeared there on Sept. 1 and was reunited with its owner.
