Wine Class

A class on white wines from Germany, Austria, and the Alsace region of France will he held at 5:30 p.m. today at Park Place Wines and Liquors in East Hampton. The cost is $10. Reservations are by calling the store.

Wine Dinner Benefit

Roman Roth, the winemaker and co-owner of Wolffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, will preside over a four-course wine-and-dinner benefit for Fighting Chance, a free cancer care counseling center, at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Wolffer Kitchen Sag Harbor. The cost is $125 per person. Reservations can be made online at resy.com.

Venison Dinner

The Springs Tavern and the East End chapter of Water Fowl USA, a conservation organization, will hold a water fowl and venison dinner from 6:30 to 9:30 on Sunday. The cost is $70 per person and includes draft beers. Tickets must be purchased in advance, either by visiting or calling the restaurant.

Cochon555: Nose-to-Tail

Tim Foley, the chef de cuisine at Almond in Bridgehampton, will be one of five chefs taking part in Cochon555, a culinary event featuring nose-to-tail dishes made from heritage breed pigs, on March 8 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Altman Building on West 18th Street in Manhattan. Tickets start at $135 and are available at cochon555.com.

A Night Out With . . .

On Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., the Golden Eagle Studio and Nick and Toni’s restaurant in East Hampton will team up for a Night Out With event, starting at the studio with an artist’s presentation, followed by a two-course dinner with the artist at the adjacent restaurant. The featured guest will be Melinda Hackett, an abstract painter. The cost, $85 per person, includes the workshop, dinner, tax, and tip. Advance registration can be made on the Golden Eagle website; participants have until noon on Monday to register.

Baron Cove’s Drink Special

This evening, in honor of the birthday of John Steinbeck, who would have been 118 today, Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor will offer the writer’s favorite cocktail, the Jack Rose‚ from 4 to 7 p.m., for $11.18. The drink is a mix of applejack brandy, grenadine, and lime or lemon juice. Cake will be served as well.

Highway Restaurant Refresh

The Highway Restaurant and Bar in East Hampton is temporarily closed white its kitchen, bar, and dining room are renovated. It will reopen on March 12.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
