East Hampton Town Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc and Councilwoman Kathee Burke-Gonzalez both announced their intention to run for third terms this week. 

High-risk high school sports including wrestling, basketball, and competitive cheerleading can resume again in Suffolk, County Executive Steve Bellone announced Monday. The season will run from Feb. 1 through Feb. 27.

Southampton Town police are searching for a 58-year-old man who lives in Hampton Bays and Massapequa who has been missing since Sunday evening.

A man believed to have stolen over $100,000 worth of jewelry from five houses while he worked as a heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning technician was arrested by East Hampton Town Police on Wednesday. 

A roadside memorial now marks the place on Route 27 where Yuris Murillo Cruz was walking with her two young children on Wednesday when they were struck by a red pickup truck that fled the scene. Ms. Murillo Cruz died from her injuries, and now community members are mobilizing to help the family.

East Hampton Town police arrested a West Babylon man who they said raced away from the scene of an accident in Amagansett on Wednesday in which a 36-year-old woman was struck and killed while walking her two children in a stroller on the side of Montauk Highway.

The East Hampton School District will restrict classes to remote-only at the John M. Marshall Elementary School starting Friday, and will extend this week’s virtual instruction at the middle and high schools through next week.

The Sag Harbor School District on Monday unveiled a preliminary plan to begin administering Covid-19 tests to its students and staff members within the next two weeks.

The list of New Yorkers eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccine was expanded this week to include those 65 and older, the immunocompromised, members of police and fire departments, health workers at outpatient facilities including private medical and dental practices, teachers and school staff, child-care workers, and grocery store workers who interact with the public.
