“March Madness” Art Show

The Springs Historical Society will open its third annual “March Madness: Small Works at the Library” exhibition with a reception on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The show will be on view during regular library hours through April 5.

Open to all Springs artists and members of the historical society, the exhibition invites submissions in all mediums, with individual pieces no larger than 12 by 12 inches. Small sculptures are also accepted.

“We are once again excited to fill the walls of the historic Ambrose Parsons House with the contemporary art from the members of our Springs community and supporters of the historical society,” said Teri Kennedy, curator and chairwoman of the historical society’s art committee.

Christa Maiwald's hand embroidery Moment is at the Springs Library.

Among the more than 50 participating artists are Steven Corsano, Donna Corvi, Pamela Collins Focarino, Gerry Giliberti, Elaine Grove, Dennis Lawrence, Christa Maiwald, Peter Spacek, Christina Schlesinger, Caren Sturmer, and Burt Van Deusen.

Wilding at White Room

“Wild Things,” a group show, will open at the White Room Gallery in East Hampton on Friday and continue through April 12. A reception will happen on March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Of the exhibition, the gallery’s proprietors, Andréa McCafferty and Kat O’Neill, said, “Self-portraits and jungle pairings that elucidate the interior of the artist or something much deeper share the stage with Mother Nature in all her wild beauty.” They added that wild things can include “celebrities in all their wildness,” among them Debbie Harry, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and the Sex Pistols.

Participating artists include Markus Klinko, Stephen Hall, Mital Patel, Steve Joester, Jack Flo, Rich Mothes, Michael Lotenero, Bob Tabor, and Kasia G.

Art as Connection

The exhibiting artists are Beth Barry, Scott Bluedorn, Cynthia DiGiacomo, A.G. Duggan, Denise Gale, Christina Graham, Laurie Hall, John Haubrich, Chris Lucore, Charlene Ortiz, George Singer, Aurelio Torres, Gus Yero, and Mr. Welden.
