Classical Recital
A recital by Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner, an award-winning classical pianist who has played at the White House and the Kennedy Center for Presidents Obama and Biden, is becoming an annual attraction at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton. He will return there on Saturday at 5 p.m. with “Fantasies and Daydreaming,” which he will perform in front of the iconic “Fly’s Eye Dome.”
The program will include Gershwin’s Preludes, Chopin’s Nocturne, Bach’s Chromatic Fantasia and Fugue in D minor, Ravel’s “Alborada del Gracioso,” Meredith Monk’s “Ellis Island,” and a work by Louis Moreau Gottschalk.
Mr. Sanchéz-Werner was first prize winner of the 2022 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, and his artistry has been featured on NPR, CBS, and CNN International, and in The Wall Street Journal.
Tickets for the concert and reception are $150, $125 for members. With a dinner in the garden limited to 40 guests, the cost is $400.
Design Luncheon
The East Hampton Historical Society’s ninth annual Summer Design Luncheon Benefit will take place at the Maidstone Club next Thursday at 11 a.m. This year’s guest speaker is Marshall Watson, an acclaimed interior designer who will discuss his new book, “Designing Elegance.”
Whether it’s a light and airy seaside home in East Hampton or a modern renovation of a barn in the Napa Valley, Mr. Watson will detail how he translates each owner’s lifestyle, the house’s history, and the setting into an original form of elegance.
Tickets start at $275 and can be bought on the historical society’s website.
Far-Out Performance
The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony will perform Stravinsky’s “The Soldier’s Tale” on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in the Shelter Island School’s auditorium.
Bruce Leggett-Flynn, a British actor, stars in the one-hour theatrical adaptation in which a fiddle-playing soldier goes head to head with the devil. The show takes place inside a set inspired by the Surrealist artists Man Ray and René Magritte, created by Ariel Adkins, an artist-designer with a home on Shelter Island.
The sponsor, the Shelter Island Friends of Music, promises the free performance will be the East End’s “most underground, far-out musical event of the summer.”
Candy Kitchen Honor
Community Stars, a benefit for the Bridgehampton Museum, will celebrate 100 years of the Candy Kitchen by honoring Gus Laggis and the Laggis family Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Nathaniel Rogers House.
The $125 admission comes with a first look at the museum’s “In Miniature” art sale, which celebrates the 238th birthday of Nathaniel Rogers, a painter born in Bridgehampton in 1787. The museum asked artists to create small works, eight inches in diameter. All artwork will be displayed without names; only after purchase, for $238, will the buyer know whose work it is.
The art sale will be open to the public on Saturday during museum hours. Also on display will be portraits inspired by Bridgehampton’s history, created by Sabina Streeter, a Sag Harbor artist.
Musical Gumbo
“Rhythms Across the Americas,” a performance by the Elio Villafranca Quintet, is coming to the Southampton Arts Center, in partnership with Hamptons JazzFest and Jazz at Lincoln Center, on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

The concert is a celebration of cultural fusion, historical roots, and the unifying power of rhythm.
Tickets are $40, $35 for members, or $65 and $60 for preferred seating.
