Leather Garments Transformed

New work by Claire Watson is on view at the Drawing Room in East Hampton through Aug. 18, focusing on work created over the past five years. The artist’s idiosyncratic technique incorporates fragments of deconstructed leather garments, gesso, and stitching on canvas.

Ms. Watson “reconfigures elements of clothing while retaining traces of its former utility and craftsmanship,” according to the gallery. Vestiges of coats, dresses, and pants are transformed into visual structures that echo “archetypal forms from ancient civilizations and the language of 20th-century abstraction.”

Sculpture at Duck Creek

“Fitzhugh Karol: On the Grounds,” a site-specific exhibition of large-scale steel sculptures, will open Saturday at the Arts Center at Duck Creek in Springs and remain on view through Dec. 14.

Mr. Karol’s sculptures unfold across the venue’s grounds in “rhythmic conversation with one another and their setting, blending abstract architecture with a sense of play, memory, and movement,” says the arts center. Many of the works incorporate openings or negative spaces that frame the environment itself.

“Sunday” Double Play

The Tripoli Gallery in Wainscott has joined forces with the Vito Schnabel Gallery in St. Moritz, Switzerland, to open “Sunday,” a group exhibition, tomorrow at both locations, with receptions set St. Moritz on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and in Wainscott on Sunday from 5 to 7.

“Sunday” brings together works that explore the idea of a day of rest. The exhibiting artists are Trey Abdella, Katherine Bernhardt, Katherine Bradford, Francesco Clemente, Mary Heilmann, Rashid Johnson, Christoph Matthes, Lola Montes, Robert Nava, Julian Schnabel, and Lucy Winton.

The show at Tripoli will run through Aug. 18; at Vito Schnabel until Aug. 30.

Bryan Hunt at The Church

Natural forms and space are at the heart of Bryan Hunt’s sculptures and paintings. Mr. Hunt will be at The Church in Sag Harbor on Sunday at noon to talk about “Ceta-II,” his wood, synthetic fabric, and steel sculpture now on view there in “The Ark.”

The artist is likely to encounter questions about the elegant form that seems to emerge from the gallery wall. Is it a bird wing? A tentacle? Or a cetacean, an order of aquatic mammals that includes whales, dolphins, and porpoises?

The answer is in the exhibition’s catalog, but better to hear it from the artist.

Eight Friends at the Depot

Next up at the Depot Art Gallery in Montauk is “The Group Show Get Together,” which opens Thursday and will run through July 28. A reception will be held on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.

The exhibition features works in pastel, glass, oils, acrylics, and watercolors, by Rosalind Brenner, Phyllis Chillingworth, Donna Corvi, Mary Daunt, Edward Joseph, Teresa Lawler, Amy Pollack, and Carl Scorza.

Darius Yektai Solo

A solo show of new works by Darius Yektai opens Thursday at the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor with a reception from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and will continue through Aug. 3.

The new paintings are rooted in observational elements — branches, willow leaves, mountains, and horizon lines — rendered in rich colors and gestural brushwork, often thickly applied.

Through a Nautical Lens

“Turning Tides,” a group show of paintings, photographs, and mixed media featuring seascapes, beach scenes, and marine life, will open at the Lucore Art Gallery in Montauk on Saturday, with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. It will remain on view through Aug. 8.

On view are works by Aurelio Torres, Frank D’Agostino, Jackie Maloney, John Melillo, John Tuttle, Jiliana Purcell Sheehan, Lenore Romm, Mike Skarimbas, Penelope El-Dalati, Peter Spacek, Rafael Algarin, and Steven Romm.

Pop Culture and More

“Red Carpet” opens at the White Room Gallery in East Hampton on Thursday and will continue through Aug. 17. The exhibition features the artwork of Nelson De La Nuez, as well as work by Markus Klinko, Terry O’Neill, the Guys With the Same Name, Pascal Guetta, and Simon Waranch.

Mr. De La Nuez’s cartoon-inspired mixed-media pieces share the carpet with celebrity photographs by Mr. Klinko and Mr. O’Neill, pop culture images by the Guys, abstractions by Mr. Guetta, and blown and mirrored glass pieces by Mr. Waranch.

A reception will be held on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Creating Color

For “An Exhibition of Color, Urgency, and Unmapped Terrain” at LTV Studios, six artists were each given a 4-by-12-foot canvas and a single instruction: Arrive with brushes, paint, and nothing else. The directive was to immerse themselves in the act of creating color.

The results can be seen in Wainscott Friday through Aug. 20, with a reception set for Friday, July 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. Organized by Haim Mizrahi, the show includes large-scale paintings by Bob Sullivan, Fanyu Lin, Nick Weber, Chris Lucore, Jody Gambino, and Mr. Mizrahi.

Ikebana Workshops

The Women’s Art Center of the Hamptons in Bridgehampton will host two workshops that introduce Ikebana, the art of Japanese flower-arranging. Led by Julie Jensen, the workshops will feature a history of the art, demonstrations, and hands-on arrangements created by students.

Participants have been asked to take a container with sides about two to three inches high and approximately nine inches in diameter. Flowers, branches, greens, and other basic materials are included in the class fee.

The workshops will happen on Wednesday and July 30, from 10 until noon. The fee for each is $75.

Three at Stella Flame

The Stella Flame Gallery in Bridgehampton will open three exhibitions on Saturday, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Bob Gruen, a longtime photographer of the music scene, will be represented by “Rock Seen,” a show of photographs, and “A Teenage Bedroom,” an installation.

Also opening are an exhibition of freehand scalpel-cut paper assemblages by Elizabeth Gregory-Gruen, and “The Celestial Spheres of Paradise,” a trunk show of jewelry by Donna Distefano.

The artworks will be on view through Aug. 13, the trunk show through Wednesday.

Mizrahi Solo in Springs

“Right Attitude Internally Dreaming Last,” a show of paintings by Haim Mizrahi, can be seen at Ashawagh Hall from Friday through Sunday, with a reception set for Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Describing his new series, the artist has said, “It’s the grip of inspiration wrapped around discipline and calm demeanor.”

New Brew From Kidd Squid

Kidd Squid Brewery and Almond restaurant have partnered to create a new sour pale ale whose cans feature artwork by Almond Zigmund.
