Fireplace Project Turns 20

Tue, 07/08/2025 - 13:54
Lana Kova's bowls are from her "Caviar" series of micro texture slip cast works.

The Fireplace Project will open its 20th and final season in Springs on Friday with two solo exhibitions: “Beluga,” a show of sculpture and drawings by Lana Kova, and “Friends in High Places,” work by Curtis Kulig. A reception will happen Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., and the shows will run through Aug. 3.

While Ms. Kova’s art spans sculpture, ceramics, watercolor, and other forms of painting, she specializes in contemporary ceramic sculpture, pottery, and porcelain. The show’s title refers to her first taste of black caviar at the age of 3, which her family received as part of military food rations in Russia.

Mr. Kulig’s studio practice consists of painting, drawing, sculpture, and video. He often works in series and explores emotional landscapes and vulnerabilities. In addition, he has collaborated with many brands using his artwork and designs, among them Cartier, Nike, and Starbucks.

The Fireplace Project’s second location in Hudson will remain open year round.
