“The Many Screen Lives of ‘Moby-Dick,’ ” a film presentation, will be shown at the Sag Harbor Cinema on Monday at 6 p.m., in anticipation of the biannual Moby-Dick Marathon organized by Canio’s Books from May 30 through June 1.

The program will begin with a brief presentation by Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan, the cinema’s founding artistic director, of various “Moby-Dick” iterations on film, from early Hollywood to Orson Welles to Tom and Jerry.

John Huston’s 1956 Technicolor epic starring Gregory Peck as Captain Ahab will follow the presentation. Huston and Ray Bradbury wrote their own adaptation of Herman Melville’s novel. In addition to Peck, Richard Basehart portrayed Ishmael, Leo Genn was Starbuck, and Welles, who made many attempts to adapt the novel for stage and screen throughout his own lifetime, was Father Mapple.
