HamptonsFilm has announced its SummerDocs lineup for 2022. This year, the series will be screened at the East Hampton Cinema beginning June 25 with Sara Dosa's "Fire of Love." The other films in the series are "Navalny" by Daniel Roher (July 23) and "Nothing Lasts Forever," directed by Jason Kohn (Aug. 12).

Alec Baldwin and David Nugent, the artistic director of HamptonsFilm, have once again made the selections this year. Mr. Nugent will lead discussions after the screenings with the filmmakers. In July, Mr. Baldwin will join him. “We are excited to share a diverse lineup of award-winning films that illustrate incredible stories and topical issues that matter to our audiences," said Mr. Nugent.

"Fire of Love" premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. It looks at the lives of two people who fell in love researching volcanoes and then died in a volcanic explosion, but not before capturing footage of explosions that changed views on the phenomena and saved lives.

A thriller about the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny that bears his name was shot contemporaneously as he was poisoned with a nerve agent and then recovered in Berlin. It was there that he learned the truth about the attack and decided to return to his home country, despite what might happen to him there.

In "Nothing Lasts Forever," the diamond industry is investigated from the inside, with the filmmaker revealing a crime in this very secretive world that could affect the value of "every diamond ever mined."

All screenings are at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased on the HamptonsFilm website.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
