If anyone knows roses, it's Stephen Scanniello, the Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden Curator at the New York Botanical Garden and rosarian of the Helen S. Kaman rose garden in West Hartford, Conn. Mr. Scanniello will be at the Bridgehampton Community House on Sunday afternoon at 2, as guest of the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons, to discuss "The Rose Garden Chronicles."

Mr. Scanniello has written or co-written five books on roses, one of which, "A Year of Roses," won the American Horticultural Society's Annual Book Award in 1998. He has devoted his career to the preservation of heritage roses, and in 2009 created the Heritage Rose District in northern Manhattan between West 122nd and West 163rd streets, with Broadway and Trinity Church Cemetery as its center.

Tickets are $10, free for members.
