Alfonso Triggiani, right, the artistic director of Touch Dancing Studios in Westhampton Beach, will lead an eight-session ballroom dancing class at Bay Street Theater.

Not Strictly Ballroom
Sag Harbor's Bay Street Theater will offer in-person classes in ballroom dancing and acting, starting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with “Ballroom Dancing Lessons With Touch Dancing.”

Alfonso Triggiani and his associates from Touch Dancing, a Westhampton Beach studio that offers “real dancing for real people,” will focus on aspects of social dancing, as opposed to competitive ballroom dancing. Open to beginners and experienced dancers, the sessions will cover disco, Latin, and Smooth, which comprises the waltz, tango, foxtrot, and Viennese waltz.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays through March 22, with dance lessons for the first hour, followed by a half hour of supervised practice dancing. The cost is $200 for eight sessions, $30 for drop-ins.

Allen O’Reilly, the theater’s director of education and community outreach, will lead an eight-session workshop called “Everybody Can Act!" starting next Thursday at 7 p.m.

Participants will learn the basics of theater and acting technique through games, short scenes, and improvisation. Each student will work on a monologue as well as a scene, which will be presented on the theater’s stage on the final day of class.

The tariff is $200 for eight sessions.

Like the Grateful Dead
The psychedelic sounds of the Roses Grove Band will rock the Inner Sanctum of the Masonic Temple in Sag Harbor on Saturday at 8 p.m. According to its Facebook page, the band plays the music of the Grateful Dead "with the improvisational spirit of Phil Lesh and Friends."

Tickets are $20. Proof of vaccination or a recent negative Covid test will be required.

Talking Dance, More
Jenn Freeman, a choreographer and current resident at The Church in Sag Harbor, will be joined there by the filmmaker Alexander Hammer for a screening of a trailer of their forthcoming film Thursday evening at 6:30.

The screening will be followed by a conversation between Ms. Freeman and Mr. Hammer about their project in development, an evening-length solo dance piece based on the life-altering experience of receiving a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder at the age of 33.

Tickets are $5 and can be ordered from The Church’s website.
