The Choral Society of the Hamptons will postpone its "Winter Fantasia" concert until mid-January because of a Covid-19 exposure within the ensemble. Those who have purchased tickets will be notified with an option to attend on the new date or receive a refund once that date has been finalized.

"Winter Fantasia," the Choral Society of the Hamptons' annual holiday concert and carol sing-along, returns to the Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church on Sunday at 3 and 5:30 p.m.

In addition to its members, the choral society will be joined by soloists and accompanied by the South Fork Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Song-A Cho.

Walter Klauss, a frequent guest conductor of the choral society and music director at the Old Whalers Church in Sag Harbor, will lead the chorus. "The concert presents glorious seasonal music for chorus, soloists, and orchestra, filling the church with joy and hope," Mr. Klauss said. "The program ends with the audience singing carols with organ and orchestra."

The soloists are Emily Donato, a soprano who has been cited by The East Hampton Star for her "vocal abilities, musical intuition, and poise . . . well beyond her years," and Harrison Hintzsche, a baritone who won first prize at the 2020 Colorado Bach Ensemble Young Artist Competition.

The concert will begin with Michael Altenburg's "Advent Intrada," and includes Johann Sebastian Bach's "Nun Komm, der Heiden Heiland," Gerald Finzi's "In Terra Pax," Ralph Vaughan Williams's "Fantasia on Christmas Carols," and Alfred Burt's "Caroling, Caroling," "All on a Christmas Morning," and "We'll Dress the House."

The audience will be invited to join in on "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Angels We Have Heard on High," "Silent Night," and "Hark the Herald Angels Sing."

Tickets are $35, $75 for preferred seating, and are available only in advance from the choral society's website and at the Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor. The performance will last approximately one hour with no intermission. Proof of vaccination and masks will be required for entry.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
