“Andromeda’s Sisters,” the Neo-Political Cowgirls’ two-part virtual arts and advocacy program, will kick off Friday evening at 7:30 with a show of monologues written by female-identifying playwrights and performed by notable actors.

As of press time, the writers include Joy Behar (“The View”), Lucy Boyle (“The Blue Deep”), Dipti Bramhandkar (“The Accident”), Lynn Grossman (TriQuarterly magazine), Tanya Everett (“A Dead Black Man”), and Sarah Bierstock (“Honor Killing”).

Their work will be performed by Blythe Danner (“Will and Grace”), Catherine Curtin (“Homeland”), Walker White (“Goodfellas”), Laura Gomez (“Orange Is the New Black”), Florencia Lozano (“Narcos”), and Ellen Dolan (“As the World Turns”).

In addition to the monologues, the program will include a short video piece by Mia Funk, set to her writing, and two choreography pieces on video by Vanessa Walters. The evening will also include the recitation of work by the late June Jordan, a celebrated Jamaican-American writer known for her commitment to human rights and political activism.

The second component of “Andromeda’s Sisters,” set for Sept. 3, will focus on the landmark white supremacy case Sines v. Kessler, in which Integrity First for America is taking on the leadership of the white supremacy movement in the United States. Amy Spitalnick, IFA’s executive director, and Roberta Kaplan, its lead counsel, will discuss the case with Dahlia Lithwick, a journalist.

The evening will continue with Kerry Kennedy, a lawyer and human rights activist, speaking about the work of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization. Actors will then read from Ms. Kennedy’s book, “Speak Truth to Power.”

Tickets to the monologue evening are $25 and can be ordered through the Neo-Political Cowgirls’ website. Tickets to both programs are $50. All proceeds will support the dance-theater company, which was founded by the actor-director Kate Mueth to explore and celebrate the female voice.

The Sweet Smell of Nostalgia at Sagaponack General

Stepping into the new Sagaponack General Store, which reopened yesterday after being closed since 2020, is a sweet experience, and not just because there’s a soft-serve ice cream station on the left and what promises to be the biggest penny candy selection on the South Fork on your right, but because it’s like seeing an old friend who, after some struggle, made it big. Really, really big.
