For Gansett’s Library Board

This year’s election for the board of the Amagansett Library will be held from March 1 to March 19. Interested candidates who are residents of the hamlet and can commit to monthly meetings have been asked to submit a letter of interest and a short bio by Feb. 23. Those materials can be sent to [email protected], mailed to the library at P.O. Box 2550, Amagansett 11930, or dropped off in person.

Dorothy King Kessen

Dorothy Kessen of Springs, a skilled baker who worked for many years at Brent’s General Store and Miller’s Fuel, died of a sudden Covid-19 pneumonia infection at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital on Jan. 23. She was 85.

Richard Hausman, 97

Richard J. Hausman, who owned and operated the Sands Motel in Montauk that his parents and brother had built in 1951, died on Jan. 29 at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. The cause was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
