East Hampton High School's girls track team finished its spring season at the state qualifier meet at Comsewogue High School last week with much to be proud of, including two school records and a number of P.R.s

"We had the largest participation at this level since I've been coaching," Yani Cuesta, the team's coach, said in an email on Sunday.

The 4-by-400 team of Alex Kolhoff, Josie Mott, Laura Martinez, and Sara O'Brien finished sixth in the semifinals last Thursday with a school-record time of 4:09.19. (The previous record of 4:10.66 was set in 1998 by Crystal Winter, Taneesha Harris, Erin Ingraham, and Erin Becker.) The team came in eighth in the finals on Friday with a time of 4:14.35.

Greylynn Guyer also set a new school record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase on Friday, with a time of 7 minutes and 25 seconds, which earned her fourth place. It was a personal record for Guyer, who has broken the school steeplechase record two other times this year.

Other top performers at the state qualifier included K.K. Moore in the discus, with a personal-record throw of 99 feet 11 inches, earning her sixth place last Thursday. "This was the first time one of our throwers made it to the finals in the state qualifier meet," Cuesta said. In the 400-meter hurdles, O'Brien finished eighth in the semifinals and then seventh in the finals with a time of 67.84.

Abe Stillman, a senior who is this year's valedictorian, was the standout performer on Bonac's boys team, clearing 12 feet in the pole vault to finish ninth in the finals.
