Crimes Against a Child Alleged

Thu, 03/05/2026 - 12:13

A Hampton Bays man accused of multiple crimes against a child was arrested in the early morning hours Saturday.

Police charged Jaime Fajardo Fajardo, 36, with “course of sexual conduct against a child” in the second degree, a felony, because they said “the abuse occurred on multiple occasions between 2022 and 2025.” He was also charged with sexual abuse in the first degree, also a felony. Additionally, police charged him with sexual abuse in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors. He could face up to 16 years in prison if found guilty.

A tip from Child Protective Services — which said the victim reported the abuse to one of their agents — led to the arrest. The age of the victim was not revealed by police but the charges indicate that the child is under the age of 13 and had been abused over the course of three years.

Mr. Fajardo Fajardo was arraigned virtually from East Hampton Town Police headquarters in Wainscott where bail was set for $50,000. It was unclear whether Mr. Fajardo Fajardo would post bail or be held at Suffolk County Jail in Riverside.
