Since being reimagined in 2024, East Hampton Town’s Citizen Police Academy is back for a third year. The 10-week immersive class allows residents to see what it’s like to be a police officer in East Hampton.

The class is free and meets one night a week from 6 to 9 p.m. starting on March 4. It will focus on crime scene investigations, the laws of arrest, traffic stops, and the department’s drone unit. Participants will travel to the Suffolk County Police Department for firearms safety training and do a ride-along with an officer.

Participants are required to have valid licenses and must pass a background check.

The group size is limited; applications must be completed by Feb. 25. Those interested have been asked to call 631-537-7575, extension 218.
