An East Quogue man police say broke into Bostwick’s on Pantigo Road last May was charged with third-degree burglary early Friday morning, and sentenced later that day to four years’ probation for a string of other burglaries from Southampton to East Hampton.

Greg King, 48, turned himself in at 6 that morning.

According to a town Police Department release, he broke in to the restaurant on May 25, 2025, and took a safe that contained cash. Police did not say how much. Detectives, who had targeted Mr. King as a suspect, called his surrender “coordinated.”

He first appeared virtually in East Hampton Town Justice Court, where Justice Steven Tekulsky ordered him released from the custody of local police and allowed him to transport himself to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s office. Mr. King, who was represented by a Legal Aid attorney, was then arraigned by County Supreme Court Justice Steven Pilewski on the combined charges stemming from the burglaries here and in Southampton. He ultimately pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree burglary — entry with intent to commit a crime — and was fined a total of $375 in addition to the four years’ probation.

In August, according to Southampton Town police, Mr. King burglarized several Southampton businesses, including Local Burger on County Road 39 and Rumba in Hampton Bays. He was arrested for those crimes in November and released on his own recognizance. The next day, his family reported him missing, and Southampton police issued a missing-person flier indicating that he was “endangered” and “possibly in need of medical attention.” He was ultimately found safe.

On Tuesday, East Hampton police said there remain open burglary cases here that could be connected to Mr. King, but would not comment further as those cases are still open.
