Eleven License Suspensions Make a Felony

Thu, 08/28/2025 - 11:39

A New York City man was charged with a felony on Saturday evening after Sag Harbor Village police stopped his 2025 Cadillac on a seatbelt violation.

David J. Ebrahimzadeh, 45, was driving down Main Street when a village officer noticed the violation. A subsequent search of the driver’s record revealed that his license had been suspended 11 times between 2010 and 2016, and that he’d failed to answer nine summonses.

He was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, which was elevated to the felony level because five of the suspensions were still in effect. The Cadillac was impounded by Corwith’s Auto Body, and Mr. Ebrahimzadeh was transported to police headquarters for processing. He is to appear in Sag Village Justice Court on Sept. 12.

Also charged with a felony last week was Benjamin D. Forst of East Hampton, 44, who is alleged to have damaged a truck on Memorial Day in East Hampton Village.

According to the complaint, Mr. Forst intentionally scratched the front passenger door of a 2022 Rivian truck parked at 100 Pantigo Place, leaving a mark approximately 12 inches long and causing an estimated $1,000 worth of damage.

On Aug. 18, he was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and taken to town police headquarters for processing. He was released about two hours later, and was to have been arraigned yesterday in East Hampton Town Justice Court.
