One of two accidents that occurred recently on local roads required a helicopter ride to Stony Brook University Hospital.
In a report released this week, town police said that on the evening of May 2, Georgica Bogetti of East Hampton, 26, was charged with drunken driving after colliding with a tree on Hand’s Creek Road near Oakview Highway in East Hampton.
She sustained severe injuries to her face, police said, and a helicopter was summoned to take her to the hospital. Because of her injuries, a roadside sobriety test could not be done, but officers reported smelling alcohol on her breath and other signs of intoxication.
Ms. Bogetti appeared in Town Justice Court before Justice David Filer on May 21, charged with first-offense D.W.I., a misdemeanor. She was released on her own recognizance and is due back in court on June 12.
The other accident happened on the evening of May 20, when a deer ran across South Dewey Place near Second House Road in Montauk and Allison Wurthmann of the Bronx, 48, swerved to avoid it. She collided with a rock wall on a nearby property, and complained of chest pain before being taken by ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for treatment. Her 2019 Subaru S.U.V. was towed by Marshall & Sons to its garage in Montauk.
