Cocaine Found in a Cadillac

German Centurion of East Hampton, 46, was at the wheel of a 2019 Cadillac Escalade on Montauk Highway early on Sunday morning when, according to East Hampton Village police, a license-plate reader surveillance camera alerted them that he was driving with a suspended registration. He was pulled over on Woods Lane.

A check with the Department of Motor Vehicles, police said, showed that the registration was suspended after the car was found to be uninsured.

A vial with 1.17 grams of a “white powdery substance” was allegedly found in Mr. Centurion’s possession, and a “multi-drug” test, according to police, determined the substance to be cocaine.

The driver was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and operating a car with a suspended registration, a misdemeanor. He was arraigned on Monday by East Hampton Town Justice David Filer, and is expected back in court on May 28.
