Two Found in Stolen Truck

Thu, 06/25/2026 - 08:50

A truck stolen from a Queens police impound yard was found on June 13 in East Hampton Village, with two men in it, both of whom have been charged with felonies in connection with the theft.

Village police said they charged the driver of the Ford F-350, Kiasheem Ward, 38, with a litany of crimes, the top charge being fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony. His passenger, Alton Herring, 36, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., faces the same felony charge.

At around 6 that evening, officers spotted the truck on Main Street near Dayton Lane with a shattered windshield and an expired registration sticker. Mr. Ward, of Reevesville, S.C., gave them a false name, they said. When police discovered his true identity, they found that his driving privileges in New York State had been suspended 17 times.

The truck’s registration did not match its description, police said, but they found that its identification number did match with a truck reported stolen out of the stolen property unit in Precinct 100, which covers parts of Queens and Rockaway Beach.

Mr. Ward was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree and false personation, both misdemeanors, and six traffic violations. The truck was impounded. Both men were taken to police headquarters on Cedar Street, where they were released on appearance tickets. They are due in court on Wednesday to answer to the charges.
