Pedestrians Hit in Sag Harbor Crosswalk

Thu, 11/20/2025 - 05:35

Two pedestrians were injured in a low-speed collision outside Bay Street Theater on Saturday night.

Upon arrival, Sag Harbor Village police reported finding a woman lying in the roadway in front of a car, with another woman kneeling next to her. Both stated they had been crossing Main Street within the marked crosswalk when they were “suddenly struck” by the car. One woman complained of ankle pain and the other of back pain. After being assessed by Sag Harbor emergency medical technicians, they were taken in two ambulances to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for further treatment.

The driver stated that she had been traveling east on Ferry Road at a low rate of speed when she “suddenly felt a thud” and realized she had struck the pedestrians, though she said she did not believe they had been in the crosswalk at the time.

Police took photos of the scene, and a subsequent review of street camera footage confirmed that the car had struck the women at a low rate of speed within the bounds of the crosswalk. Police then submitted a request for “driver review” to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

No information is being released as to the names of the driver or the pedestrians, police said, because there were no criminal charges.
