Pedestrian Fatality in Water Mill

Christopher Briscoe of Water Mill, 50, was hit by a car and killed on Saturday night while crossing Montauk Highway just east of the Scuttlehole Road intersection.

Spencer K. Cannon of Southampton was eastbound in a 2019 Nissan sedan at 11:01 p.m. when Mr. Briscoe tried to cross the highway from the north side to the south. Mr. Briscoe was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr. Cannon, 28, was not injured. His car was impounded for a safety check; Southampton Town police said in a release that “no criminality is suspected.”
