Telephone Pole Was Severed

Thu, 02/09/2023 - 10:05

East Hampton Town police reported just one drunken-driving arrest last week.

Just after midnight on Friday, after losing control of his 2004 Acura, police said Carlo Pacho-Gutama of Hampton Bays, 29, drove into a telephone pole on Springs-Fireplace Road near Sand Lot Road in Springs. The pole was severed in the collision.

Mr. Pacho-Gutama performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, according to the report, and was charged with a class E felony after it was found that he had been convicted of driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years. After the Acura was found to be lacking an interlock device, which is required after a D.W.I. conviction, he was further charged with a misdemeanor.

It Was S.U.V. on S.U.V.

On June 23, a Subaru S.U.V. rear-ended a Toyota S.U.V. at Carl Fisher Plaza in Montauk. That evening, two other S.U.V.s collided in Wainscott and had to be towed away. And more news of the roads.
