D.W.I. Charged After Crash

Thu, 01/05/2023 - 09:45

A 22-year-old Montauk man is facing drunken-driving charges after he lost control of his car on Abraham’s Path in East Hampton on Sunday morning.

East Hampton Town police said that Christian J. Pintadocajilima, driving south near Accabonac Road in a 2009 Toyota sedan, crossed into the oncoming lane, then hit an embankment and struck a tree. He was not injured.

The accident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. When officers arrived, they reported, they smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath. He reportedly failed roadside sobriety tests, and a breath test produced a blood-alcohol reading of at least .08 of 1 percent, which is the legal threshold for a drunken driving arrest. Charged with two misdemeanors, Mr. Pintadocajilima was released by Justice Steven Tekulsky on his own recognizance at his Monday arraignment in Town Justice Court.

Town police also charged Jose L. Cruzgonzalez of Riverhead, 44, with misdemeanor drunken driving. He caught an officer’s attention shortly after 5 p.m. on Dec. 27, when he allegedly ran a  stop sign and turned without signaling on Hand’s Creek Road in the vicinity of Cedar Street in East Hampton. Police said he had two open cans of Modelo beer in the car. At his arraignment the next morning, Justice Tekulsky released him on his own recognizance.
