Thu, 11/17/2022 - 09:36

East Hampton Town police reported a single alcohol-related arrest on local roads last week.

Alex Ortega-Pinto of Hampton Bays, 33, was pulled over on Three Mile Harbor Road near Boatsteerers Court in East Hampton on Friday night following an accident with a 2022 Toyota. Mr. Ortega-Pinto was driving a 2018 Mercedes when police said he swerved into the opposite lane of traffic and struck the Toyota.

Mr. Ortega-Pinto performed poorly on field sobriety tests, according to the report, and was subsequently charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated, a first offense.

There was also one traffic accident involving injury during the week.

On Nov. 8, Erik Siguenza-Zhagui of East Hampton was westbound on Route 27 on Napeague, near the fork for Old Montauk Highway, when his 2004 Lincoln struck a 2008 Toyota driven by Candace Wilkerson, also of East Hampton, who had been trying to make a left-hand turn. Ms. Wilkerson was evaluated for minor bleeding and pain in her left hand and wrist following the collision.

It Was S.U.V. on S.U.V.

On June 23, a Subaru S.U.V. rear-ended a Toyota S.U.V. at Carl Fisher Plaza in Montauk. That evening, two other S.U.V.s collided in Wainscott and had to be towed away. And more news of the roads.
