Suffolk County Police Department

East Hampton Town police detectives and Suffolk County Crime Stoppers are searching for a man who stole four custom Capt. Neil Faulkner fishing rods from a boat docked at West Lake Marina on Aug. 26 at approximately 3:10 a.m.

The fishing rods are valued at nearly $5,600, so the incident is being investigated as grand larceny. The rods have gold reels and the phrase "Reel Busy" printed on them along with a first name.

Police described the suspect as white or Hispanic with a mustache and goatee, and said he fled in a white pickup truck, possibly a Nissan Frontier.

A cash reward is being offered by Crime Stoppers for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information has been asked to call 1-800-220-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted using the website P3Tips.com or a mobile app called Crime Alert, which can be downloaded online. Crime Stoppers keeps all calls, text messages, and emails confidential.
