Deer Crossing Injuries

Thu, 09/10/2020 - 10:24

September marks the beginning of rutting season, when bucks chasing does meet up with cars instead, to their greater grief. In Montauk last Thursday, a deer ran into the road shortly after 3 p.m. and caused an accident in which two people were taken to the hospital.

East Hampton Town police reported that Terence P. Feehan of Montauk, 41, driving a 2001 Audi on South Fairview Avenue near South Ferris Street, swerved to avoid the animal and struck a utility pole. He was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for treatment. His passenger, Kerrin R. Himberger, 27, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital. Their conditions were not known as of press time yesterday.
