Ford Took Some Lumps

Thu, 08/06/2020 - 10:23

On Saturday afternoon, as Christopher Backlund, 18, of Sag Harbor was driving his 2003 Ford east on Route 114, another vehicle pulled out suddenly from Plank Road. Mr. Backlund told East Hampton Town police he swerved across the road to avoid a collision, but ran into a dirt embankment and railroad ties. The other car did not stop.

The Ford sustained front-end damage and was taken away by Hammer Towing. Mr. Backlund declined medical attention at the time but later complained of back pain, and was driven by a friend or family member to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, which released him after treatment.

“You need to get out of my room,” a man yelled as he walked into a Surf Lodge hotel room just before midnight on Friday, waking up a New York City woman who had been asleep in the bed. She asked him to test the entry code for the room and closed the door behind him. He left when he was unable to unlock the door.
