On July 23, a pair of women stole $520 worth of clothing from the ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo store at 20 Newtown Lane in East Hampton Village. Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and East Hampton Village Police Department detectives are seeking help from the public and offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for any information on the women, who were in the store at 4:53 p.m.

Security camera footage shows the women putting the clothing into their bags. One of the suspects appears to have a tattoo on her right thigh and ankle. Anyone who can help law enforcement make an arrest with information regarding the shoplifters' identity or location has been asked to call 1-800-220-TIPS to submit an anonymous tip to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted using a mobile app, downloadable through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at P3Tips.com. All calls, texts, and emails will be kept confidential.

They Know When You've Been Bad or Good

East Hampton Village is now home to 14 Flock license plate reader surveillance cameras, which amounts to one for every 108 full-time residents, if you go by the 2020 census data. They're heralded by local police for aiding in enforcement and investigations, but they use a technology that has proven controversial nationally with those concerned about civil liberties.
