Michael Lohan, the father of the actress Lindsay Lohan, was arrested on March 16 in connection with a Feb. 22 incident at the Amagansett I.G.A. The arrest took place at East Hampton Town police headquarters in Wainscott.

Police said they had become aware that Mr. Lohan had been seen with his estranged wife, Kate Major Lohan, who holds an order of protection against him, at the I.G.A. on that date. He was charged with criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

On Feb. 10, Mr. Lohan, 59, was arrested in Southampton Village after allegedly being verbally and physical abusive to his wife, with whom he lives on Hampton Road in the village. He was charged with misdemeanor criminal obstruction of breathing, or blood circulation, and second-degree harassment, a violation.

Southampton Town Justice Barbara Wilson issued Ms. Major Lohan the protective order following the Feb. 10 alleged attack.
