Truck Hit a Cement Pillar

Wed, 03/11/2020 - 22:20

An East Hampton man was charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated last Thursday morning after his pickup truck hit a cement pillar, part of a small bridge on Old Stone Highway in Springs.

Angel V. Caivagua-Sanchez, 36, was driving a 2011 Toyota pickup north on the highway, near School Street, when the accident occurred. When East Hampton Town police arrived, at about 8:30 a.m., they found him standing, uninjured, outside the truck. He told police he was not sure what he’d hit.

He appeared intoxicated, police said, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. He was arraigned that afternoon before East Hampton Town Justice Steven Tekulsky, and released on his own recognizance.
