Amagansett

A 2 a.m. altercation at the Stephen Talkhouse that began between two women and spread to others sent police there on May 31. A Springs woman, Ashleigh Sachony-Rodman, was hit on the head by another woman, who was said by police to be drunk, and who then pulled her off her chair. Two groups of antagonists formed before the bar’s security team stepped in and told the groups to leave, via separate doors. Ms. Sachony-Rodman told police she did not want to press charges.

East Hampton Village

A Huntting Lane resident came into police headquarters last Thursday to report the disappearance of her cellphone the day before. The woman, whose name was redacted from the report in keeping with village police practice, said she had left her iPhone 6 on a bench in the women’s locker room at the RECenter the day before. When she realized her error she called the Y, but was told the phone, valued at $300, had not been turned in.

A 60-year-old Wainscott man called police to the Main Street entrance of the Reutershan parking lot at 3 a.m. on Friday. The responding officer reported nothing wrong, and that the man just wanted to “talk about his life adventures.”

Montauk

An officer intervened early on the morning of May 31 in an altercation in front of the Shagwong Tavern. As the officer approached, a man took off running down Main Street. Shagwong’s manager told the officer the man had thrown a chair at the bar, smashing three bottles of liquor, valued at $100. The manager said he would not press charges provided the establishment was reimbursed. A friend of the man who fled stepped forward and agreed to pay for the damages.

Police issued a warning Saturday night to a man who had been harassing a Gates Avenue woman. Camille Williams told police she would not press charges as long as the unidentified man would stop calling her and coming around her house. An officer spoke with the man, and he agreed to mend his ways.

Napeague

Two green pagoda lampposts in front of the Windward Shores resort were ripped from the ground early on May 27, and one of them was smashed. The manager, Laurie Costello, said repairs would run about $900. A guest told police he had seen a number of people milling about between 1 and 4:30 a.m. but had not witnessed the vandalism.

Sag Harbor

Working with the Highway Department last Thursday morning, village police performed a successful rescue mission at the corner of Rysam and Bay Streets, where several ducklings were trapped inside a storm drain.

Police received a call on Sunday evening reporting a bird flying about inside a Main Street store. The caller was told that police are not equipped to deal with such situations.

Springs

A blue porcelain flower pot at the front door of a Will Curl Highway residence was stolen sometime between noon on May 27 and the following morning. Jean Tillinghast said it would cost $40 to replace.

Wainscott

On May 21, Adolfo Montenegro left his black-and-cream Huffy bicycle chained to a kayak rack in front of the Main Beach Surf Shop while he went inside. Then, as he happened to glance out the shop window, he saw two men speed off with the bike, and ran out to find the lock had been clipped. He told police he did not see their faces well enough to be able to identify them. The bike had a basket and a cup-holder attached, and was valued at $200.
