Pierre G. Pasteur

Thu, 01/08/2026 - 11:38

Paid Notice: Pierre G. Henri Pasteur passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at his home in East Hampton, New York.

Pierre was born on February 12, 1942, in Gouzon, France, one of nine children. He served in the French Foreign Legion and began his professional life working for several automobile manufacturers in France. In 1966, Pierre immigrated to the United States, where he ultimately built a successful direct marketing business.

A passionate and accomplished sailor, Pierre found his greatest joy on the water. Over the years, he owned several sailboats, including Crazy Horse. He was an excellent offshore sailor and made an annual trip to the Virgin Islands and back. In his early days sailing out of Three Mile Harbor in East Hampton, he was known for sailing directly into his slip under sail alone — no motor — earning him the affectionate nickname “the crazy Frenchman.”
Pierre was a member of the Devon Yacht Club, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He was known for his quick wit, mischievous humor, and generous spirit. His warmth, kindness, and love of life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Pierre is survived by his wife, Betty Pasteur; his son, Eric Pasteur, and daughter-in-law, Lisa; his grandsons, Nicolas Pasteur and Jean-Philippe Pasteur; Nicolas’s wife, Sara; and his great-granddaughter, Sophia Pasteur.

A celebration of Pierre’s life will be held at the Devon Yacht Club in the summer of 2026.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice, PO Box 1048 Westhampton Beach, NY 11978 or to First Presbyterian Church, East Hampton.
