Services for Meghan Payne, Springs School Teacher

Mon, 01/06/2025 - 17:10

Visiting hours for Meghan Payne, a Springs School teacher who died last Thursday, will be held at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton on Tuesday, Jan. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. Her funeral will be on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in East Hampton.

Ms. Payne, 45, was a special education teacher at Springs. In a letter to parents on Monday, the school's superintendent, Nancy Carney, said the school has received an outpouring of support from neighboring districts, which have offered counselors and teachers to help staff and students this week and teachers to fill in on Wednesday so that Ms. Payne's colleagues at Springs can attend her funeral.

At a PTA meeting on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., East End Hospice "will have counselors on hand to provide parents with guidance on dealing with grief and talking to children," the superintendent said in her letter to families.
