A graveside service for Albert A. Zaccaria of Montauk will take place on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Calverton National Cemetery. Those attending are asked to arrive by 1:15 and inquire at the guard shack to learn directions within the cemetery.

Mr. Zaccaria, a Navy veteran who served as a medic aboard the U.S.S. Saipan during the Korean War, died at home on Saturday at the age of 93. An obituary will appear in a future issue.

A severely decomposed humpback whale was discovered washed up at Ditch Plain in Montauk Friday morning. Removing it will be a challenge for East Hampton Town, which is working in concert with a number of agencies to develop a plan.
