Thu, 12/24/2020 - 07:37

Pamela Lee Black, a food service employee for the East Hampton School District for many years, died on Dec. 14 of respiratory failure as a complication of coronavirus infection at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 80 and had been ill with lung cancer.

Ms. Black, who had also worked as a certified home health aide, lived in East Hampton for 25 years and recently moved to Calverton. She enjoyed painting and had displayed her work at Guild Hall's Clothesline Art Sale many times, and she loved being near the water, often heading to Maidstone Park Beach after work.

Born on July 15, 1940, in Southampton to Paul Colbourne and the former Elinor Richardson, she grew up in Sag Harbor and graduated from Pierson High School. A marriage to John Collins, with whom she started a family, ended in divorce, and she later married Edward Black. He died before her.

Ms. Black is survived by three daughters, Peri Grandone of Jensen Beach, Fla., Cheryl Behringer of Southampton, and Kelly Mattmuller of Rocky Point, a son, Edward Collins of Lehigh Acres, Fla., eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a date to be determined.
