Ditch Plain Beach will be more beach and less ditch this summer after a beach replenishment project that will bring approximately 200 truckloads of sand, about 1,000 cubic yards daily, began on Monday.
For East Hampton Teen, Third Time’s a Charm at Teeny Awards
Jadiel Rodriguez, an East Hampton High School junior who has been acting in community theater and school musicals since the age of 9, played Moonface Martin in "Anything Goes" this year. His performance earned him a Teeny Award — the eastern Suffolk high school version of Broadway’s Tony Awards, sponsored by East End Arts.
Arrest in March Hit-and-Run
East Hampton Town police have arrested a South Carolina man who they say was responsible for a March 15 hit-and-run crash on North Main Street that left a pedestrian hospitalized.

Nick Vernon Crumm of Montauk, a lifelong surfer who also enjoyed skiing, ice hockey, and pickleball, died of Alzheimer’s disease on June 12. He was 72.
