Medium or high levels of the enterococcus bacteria were reported in 12 of the 20 water bodies tested by Concerned Citizens of Montauk last week. Tests of the Benson Drive Culvert on Lake Montauk, East Creek on Lake Montauk, and Fort Pond Bay off Tuthill Road showed extraordinarily high levels of bacteria.

The South Fork is forecast to experience the worst of Tropical Storm Elsa’s gusty winds, heavy rain, tidal flooding, and rough surf between 6 a.m. and noon on Friday. Elsa, which made landfall in Florida on Wednesday, is expected to move through Mid-Atlantic states and into New England through Friday.
“Soccer, wrestling, football, no matter which of those sports you play, rugby is totally addictive — it’s called the rugby bug,” Kevin Bunce Jr. said.
