Brendan Wirth, a part-time officer with the East Hampton Village Police Department, was designated a full-time officer on Friday. At its final meeting of the year, the village board and Chief Michael Tracey held a brief ceremony to welcome Officer Wirth to full-time status.

Detectives are investigating a fire that broke out in the office building at East Hampton Indoor Tennis in Wainscott on Saturday morning — the second fire at the complex this year.
