This year our little church by Accabonac Creek, the Springs Community Presbyterian Church, celebrates its 140th year. I call it one of the great cathedrals of the world.

Starting Friday, students of the Hampton Ballet Theatre School will perform their annual production of "Peter and the Wolf" with a live orchestra, vivid original costumes, and surprise guest narrators.

Shows are at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Friday at Herrick Park in East Hampton Village, with a rain date of Saturday, and on Monday at the Children's Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton, with a rain date of Tuesday.

A Fairport, N.Y., man is facing felony assault charges after police said he attempted to stab Congressman Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor of New York, during a campaign event on Thursday evening. Mr. Zeldin was not injured in the incident.
