The Springs Citizens Advisory Committee is sponsoring a forum on drinking water quality at 6 p.m. on Monday at the East Hampton Library.

The Sag Harbor Garden Center on Spring Street will host a pumpkin party on Friday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

As people across the world mourned and prayed for those killed, wounded, and taken hostage in a violent surprise attack by the terrorist group Hamas in Israel on Saturday, Oct. 7, so too did the South Fork’s Jewish community, joined in solidarity by members and leaders of other religious organizations.

“Today, we are topping the building with a final piece of steel," Dr. Fredric Weinbaum, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s chief medical officer and chief operating officer, told the East Hampton Town Board on Tuesday. Completing the 23,000-square-foot structure itself is one hurdle and staffing it will be another, he said, but the freestanding emergency room under construction could be open this winter.
