Part of a new series from the Wainscott Heritage Project, on Saturday at the Wainscott Chapel, Geoff Gehman, a journalist and author, will go "Beyond the Kingdom: Wainscott 1.0 and 2.5." Starting at 10 a.m., he will dive into the past by way of his memories of life here in the 1960s and 1970s, from Norman Jaffe architecture to the Georgica Association to Truman Capote.

In a rare case of the Town of East Hampton removing an illegally built accessory structure, it took out a wooden walkway that connected a house on South Emerson Avenue in Montauk to the beach. According to the director of code enforcement, it was built without a permit and crossed over an easement seeded with beach grass meant to help prevent erosion.
