Fabio Velez, 66

Fabio Velez, who in recent years worked as a real estate agent with Corcoran in East Hampton and also in South Florida, died at Stony Brook University Hospital on July 2 following a short illness. He had liver cancer.

Lawrence Raymond, 86

Lawrence Raymond of Montauk and Manhattan, a 30-year employee of the I.B.M. Corporation and a member of Concerned Citizens of Montauk, died on June 29 at home in Manhattan. The cause was complications of throat cancer.

Montauk Man Drowns at Ditch Plain Beach

Benjamin Z. Kitburi was already unconscious when he was pulled from the water shortly after 7:30 p.m. by three nearby surfers, according to East Hampton Town police.

New Fitness Center Hours in Bridgehampton

The Bridgehampton School has announced new summer hours for community members and school staff at the school's fitness center. 

It will be open from 6 to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday, through Aug. 29.

Users of the facility must be Bridgehampton residents and at least 12 years old; an adult caregiver must accompany youth who are between the ages of 12 and 18.
