Accused: ‘I Did What I Did’

On Amagansett Main Street at a little after midnight Friday, East Hampton Town police spotted a 1991 Dodge pickup truck with a burnt-out taillight hanging by wires, and wound up charging its driver, Zachary Persico of Springs, 27, with felony drunken driving.

King Arraigned

Ronald A. King Jr. of Springs was arraigned Friday at the Cromarty Criminal Court complex in Riverside on felony drunken-driving charges, in connection with his arrest on May 28.

D.W.I.s Spike, as 11 Are Arrested

He arrived in Montauk two months ago, Carlos Bonet, 21, told East Hampton Town Justice Steven Tekulsky Sunday morning during his arraignment on misdemeanor charges of petty larceny, possession of stolen property, and possession of a small amount of cocaine.

Taxicab License Suspended

Jaime Uzhcha, a Springs man who owns Jimmy’s Taxi Service, had his license suspended by the town’s licensing review board last week and is facing its possible revocation as well as a felony charge of possession of a forged instrument.

Texting and Pinot Noir Blamed for Pile-Up

According to East Hampton Town police, a Springs man, Richard M. Kostura, 65, was texting behind the wheel when he rear-ended another vehicle near midnight Saturday, leading to a three-car crash.

A Westwood, Mass., man took a hard punch to the face from a stranger at the Stephen Talkhouse early Sunday morning, opening up a wound over his left eye. Alexander Owen told police he did not want to press charges against his assailant, who fled, but did want the incident documented.
