Freezing Weather Possible Overnight

Sun, 04/17/2022 - 09:55

Thought the warmer weather was here to stay? Not so fast — the National Weather Service on Sunday issued a warning of a possible freeze overnight Sunday into Monday morning.

Sub-freezing temperatures of around 30 degrees are expected. It can kill crops and "other sensitive vegetation," as well as "possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing," according to the weather report.

Accompanying the freeze advisory is a hazardous weather outlook. The National Weather Service warns that "minor to localized moderate coastal flooding is becoming increasingly likely for the Monday night and Tuesday morning high tide cycles" following the recent full moon cycle and strong easterly winds.

The weather is expected to impact not just Long Island but also northern New Jersey and southern Westchester and Connecticut.
