Hospital Allows Visitors Again

Wed, 02/16/2022 - 08:17

As of Tuesday, Stony Brook Southampton Hospital is allowing patients to receive visitors once again, though there are several Covid-19 prevention measures still in place.

Specifically, visitors must present either a Covid-19 vaccination card or proof of a negative Covid test within the previous 72 hours. Results of at-home Covid antigen and antibody tests are not accepted, according to the hospital's updated policy. Masks are required at all times. Eating and drinking are not permitted in patients' rooms.

Patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 are not allowed to have visitors.

Up to two visitors per patient are permitted between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Emergency room patients can have one visitor. In outpatient settings, one person may accompany a patient and may stay in the waiting room. Exceptions are made in limited circumstances, including end-of-life, maternity, and pediatric settings and for patients who have dementia, cognitive impairments, or developmental disabilities.
