Two local institutions have begun collecting toys for children in need — the first of what are sure to be many to come this holiday season.

The Amagansett Library is hosting a toy drive through Dec. 7. New toys, games, puzzles, and art supplies for children can be taken to the library, with all donations given to Hamptons Community Outreach for distribution. More information can be had by emailing [email protected]

The Montauk Food Pantry is collecting toys for the children of migrant and seasonal farm workers and will deliver them to the headquarters of the Eastern Farm Workers Association in Bellport in time for a visit with Santa in December. New unwrapped toys, art supplies, games, backpacks, or sweatshirts for babies and children up to the age of 15 can be dropped off at the St. Therese of Lisieux preschool lobby, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon through Dec. 9.
